This week Lisa and I talk to Sharon Pannell who runs the website TheTrailierParkHomesteader.com Sharon has been in the Apoco-list Facebook group from the very beginning and we were glad to finally get her on and talk to her about her website.
The Trailer Park Homesteader is a website that has a little bit of everything for everyone. As we Talked to Sharon we began to realize that she has the same approach to prepping as we do, you can’t possibly be prepared for every disaster that might come your way, but it never hurts to try.
We went over some of the challenges that Sharon has prepping in a small space and how she has overcome some of those hurdles. Not all of us can afford to have the massively souped up bug out vehicle inside a highly fortified compound and we just have to do what we can with what we have.
Sharon believes that there is more to prepping than just the gadgets and toys, the more you have in your head, the less you need to carry. Everything we have done could be taken a second leaving us to survive on what we have learned. This is exactly how I feel, if your food supply runs out can you grow your own? Or if your GPS stops working can you navigate using a compass or by identifying the terrain?
A Few Other Things From the Show
Sharon shared some ideas about Pallet gardening and believe it or not she has a greenhouse inside her home. Because she has a cat and teenagers it will be interesting to see how this works out. These are the hurdles we all face, sometimes things don’t work out the way we had planned and we need to learn and adjust.
She also has a post about “Laundry Sauce” that has gotten some pretty good reviews and looks pretty interesting so Lisa and I are going to give it a shot. Sharon also has quite a few other DIY projects on her website.
Where Else Can you Find The Trailer Park Homesteader?
Make sure and have a look at all of her stuff, she has a great personality and is doing this for the right reasons…to help people become more prepared.
